SAN ANTONIO - Homegrown terrorism continues to be a big concern two years after the Boston Marathon bombings.

Fox News San Antonio spoke with U.S. Rep. Will Hurd who represents the 23rd district.

The former CIA undercover agent and cyber-security expert believes homegrown terrorism is a real threat for Texas, especially with our close proximity to the border. The San Antonio native believes terror groups like ISIS are using the Internet in unprecedented ways to recruit westerners to do harm.

"You may have some young folks or some people who are living here in the U.S. that get inspired and see that message and it resonates with them and you can see that filter into our communities," he says.

The representative believes Texas does a better job than most states at collecting terrorism intelligence and disseminating that information to law enforcement agencies like San Antonio Police Department and the Bexar County Sheriff's Office.

He adds that the public can do its part by remaining vigilant and reporting any suspicious activity.
