Hurd Announces $3 Million Grant for Head Start Program in Carrizo Springs
WASHINGTON, DC—U.S. Representative Will Hurd (TX-23) today announced that Kids Are First, Inc. in Carrizo Springs is receiving a grant of more than $3 million for Head Start and Early Head Start Programs. The Department of Health and Human Services awarded $3,286,457 to Kids are First, Inc.
“I firmly believe that education must be a national priority because children in schools represent our nation’s future. This grant will help kids in our communities have access to important educational tools that will help them excel. Today’s kids are tomorrow’s leaders, and I’ll continue to do all I can in Congress to make sure our students have a fair chance to succeed.”
Kids Are First, Inc. provides Head Start and Early Head Start services to children ages 0 to 5 in the communities of Dimmit, Frio, La Salle, and Maverick Counties.
As a member of the House Appropriations Committee, Hurd voted for the bipartisan spending package that provides funds for Head Start Grants.
