Press Release

U.S. Representative Will Hurd (TX-23) today announced that more than $2.8 million has been allocated to Texas from the Department of Housing and Urban Development for Tenant-Based Rental Assistance. The funds will be used to fund the Housing Choice Voucher Program, which provides assistance to very low-income families, the elderly and disabled to ensure access to proper housing. The outpouring of funds is a result of the CARES Act, which Hurd helped get signed into law.

“Texas communities are resilient, but they need help to make it through this crisis. Our local housing authorities can use the more than $2.8 million in several ways to help elderly, low income and disabled populations with proper housing. This is especially consequential given the virus spreads so easily. This really can make a huge difference across our communities, and I’m proud to see the bipartisan CARES Act is bringing critical funds home to Texas’ 23rd District,” said Hurd.
