WASHINGTON, DC – Today, U.S. Representative Will Hurd (TX-23) showed his continued strong support for educational opportunities of students of all backgrounds by helping pass two bipartisan education bills in the House. Hurd proudly supported the following bipartisan Science, Technology, Education and Mathematics (STEM) bills:

  • The MSI STEM Achievement Act (H.R. 4372) to improve STEM programs at Minority-Serving Institutions; and,
  • The Building Blocks of STEM Act (S. 737) which ensures exposure to STEM concepts for boys and girls at an early age by creating grant opportunities for students in prekindergarten – 12th grade.

“We live in a world where our nation’s military and economic dominance is no longer guaranteed. For America to remain a global leader we must have enough creative problem solvers to have the skills to tackle our generational-defining challenges head on,” said Hurd. “These bipartisan STEM bills provide vital funding to support access to STEM opportunities to young students of all backgrounds. I’m proud to help these bills pass out of the House today and I will continue to do all that I can to make sure today’s students can learn the skills needed to play a part in keeping America safe from 21st century threats and beyond.”
