EAGLE PASS, TEXAS – Today, U.S. Representative Will Hurd (TX-23) joined Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) to pen a letter to U.S. Customs and Border Protection Acting Commissioner John Sanders in support of the City of Eagle Pass’s request to expand hours of operation at their Port of Entry. Their request comes after consistent delays seen at Eagle Pass International Bridge #1 and would increase open hours at from 7:00am to 11:00pm, 7 days a week to 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to accommodate the flow of cross-border trade.

“In 2018 alone, over 25.2 million in manufactured goods, 350,000 rail cars, 2,600 buses, 700,000 pedestrians, 170,000 trucks, and 2.7 million passenger vehicles cross through the three bridges located in Eagle Pass,” Hurd and Cornyn wrote. “Expanding the hours of operation will ensure all Ports of Entry located in Eagle Pass are able to operate efficiently and effectively, which is vital to both the Texas and national economies.”
