Russian disinformation will only intensify unless the U.S. takes action

WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Representative Will Hurd released the following statement regarding the U.S. Treasury Department’s announcement to sanction five entities and 19 individuals in Russia involved in meddling with the 2016 U.S. election and other cyberattacks:

“Russia will stop at nothing to erode trust in our democratic institutions. I’ve been calling for U.S. action against Russian covert operations since long before the 2016 election. It’s about time the Administration fights back against Russian cyber warfare by issuing these targeted sanctions. This is an important first step, but we must continue to demonstrate to Vladimir Putin, and other bad actors, that America won’t tolerate this behavior.”
