Colorado's House Republican Delegation Grills Denver Mayor Mike Johnston on City's Sanctuary Status
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Wednesday, Colorado’s Republican Members in the House of Representatives grilled Mayor Mike Johnston over Denver’s sanctuary city status. In Response, Rep. Jeff Crank (CO-05), Rep. Jeff Hurd (CO-03), Rep. Lauren Boebert (CO-04), and Rep. Gabe Evans (CO-08) released the following joint statement: “Denver Mayor Mike Johnston faced a harsh reality at Wednesday’s Oversight Hearing – sanctuary policies hurt Coloradans and our law enforcement,” said Colorado’s Republican Delegation. “As we all heard, he referred to Denver not as a “sanctuary” but as a “welcoming” city, which has opened the floodgates for violent gangs like Tren de Aragua to take over our communities. The people of Colorado deserve better than what they got yesterday from Mayor Johnston. It is time that Colorado Democrats come to the table and repeal sanctuary policies and protect Coloradans.” Social Posts: Rep. Jeff Crank questions Denver Mayor on transfers between local law enforcement and ICE. Rep. Jeff Hurd: "No one is above the law. Big-city Democratic Mayors must allow ICE to do its job." Rep. Lauren Boebert demands Denver Mayor call for a TOTAL repeal of sanctuary laws.
