WASHINGTON, D.C. – Last night, Congressman Jeff Hurd (CO-03) announced that he secured $450,000 in Community Project Funding for the Veterans Enhanced Transportation Services (VETS) Project at Spanish Peaks Regional Health Center (SPRHC) in Huerfano County. This funding will enable SPRHC to purchase two new disability-accessible vehicles for the SPRHC Veterans Community Living Center, replacing aging buses that are past their service life and prone to mechanical failures.

Washington, D.C. – Last week, Congressman Jeff Hurd (CO-03) introduced the Hauling Exemptions for Livestock Protection (HELP) Act (H.R.4500) with strong support from Colorado and national stakeholders. This legislation permanently exempts livestock, insect, and aquatic animal haulers from federal Hours-of-Service (HOS) regulations, recognizing the unique demands of transporting live animals. It builds on a successful COVID-era FMCSA Emergency Declaration that allowed these haulers flexibility while still operating at an excellent safety level.

The bill prohibits the revocation of citizenship during a papal tenure and exempts the individual from U.S. tax obligations while serving as pope, recognizing his unique role as both a religious leader and head of state.
