Rep. Jeff Hurd Highlights USDA Assistance for Colorado Producers Impacted by Wildfires
Grand Junction, CO - Congressman Jeff Hurd (CO-03) thanks U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins for her rapid response in granting assistance to Colorado farmers and ranchers impacted by wildfires.
“These wildfires have taken a heavy toll on our rural communities, but resources are available to help producers get back on their feet,” said Rep. Hurd. “I’ve worked to ensure that our ranchers, farmers, and landowners have access to federal programs that can help them recover losses, rebuild, and get back to work to provide for Colorado and the nation.
Available programs include disaster relief for livestock losses, feed and grazing assistance, and tree replanting for orchardists and nursery growers. As well, emergency loans and conservation support are available to restore farmland, rangeland, and infrastructure. Colorado producers should contact their local USDA Service Center to report losses, begin program applications, and learn about eligibility requirements.
“Producers shouldn’t wait to reach out,” Hurd added. “Even if you don’t yet know the full extent of your losses, USDA staff are ready to guide you through the process and connect you with the right tools for recovery.”
Producers should contact their local USDA Service Center or visit farmers.gov for more details. Additional information about wildfire recovery programs is available at farmers.gov/recover.
